How it runs

Everything is shot on my own equipment — from one body for a two-day job to a full setup with lighting, all of it available at short notice. And because I built broadcast systems before I made pictures, I maintain the kit myself. Whatever goes down in the field gets fixed in the field, and the shooting day carries on.

Xiaomi, Mercedes-Benz, Siemens, Deutsche Post, Hamburg Airport, ARD, ZDF, MDR, Fraunhofer-Institut, TU Dresden — and the Earthworm Foundation, for whom I photograph in Brazil.

To get it right first time

• Where the pictures will appear: print, web, campaign, internal.
• Which aspect ratio and resolution you need at the end.
• Whether people may be recognisable.

The schedule is built around the light: the best moment comes first in the planning. That is how you get the picture you had in mind.
